Work Experiences:
Edi Kurniawan received B.Eng. degree (cumlaude) from Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, in 2003, and M.Eng degree from the University of Adelaide, Australia, in 2009, both in electrical and electronics engineering. He completed his PhD in 2013 from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, in the field of control system.
From 2003 to 2004, he worked for LG Electronics Display Devices Indonesia as a Research and Development Staff. From Feb 2005 to April 2016, he has been with Research Center for Informatics, Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Indonesia. He was a 2016/2017 US - ASEAN Science and Technology Fellow, where he has been temporarily placed in Ministry of Research Technology, and Higher Education (Menristekdikti) , for contributing knowledge and analytical skills in the process of science, technology and innovation policy-making. From May 2016 to present, he has been with Research Center for Physics, Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Indonesia, where he becomes senior researcher in the Optoelectronics and Instrumentation group.
During his academic career, he spent sometimes as a visiting research fellow at European Organization for Nuclear Research (2014) - Switzerland , Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (2015) - Australia, Swinburne University of Technology (2015) -Australia , and Technische Universitat Berlin (2015) - Germany. He is now a 2018/2019 Fulbright Scholar at Northern Arizona University, Arizona , USA.
His research interests include learning control, robust control, adaptive control, speech recognition, and image processing, sensor and optoelectronics. He has served as a reviewer of international journals such as IEEE Trans. on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Trans. on Systems, Man and Cybernetics: Systems, Int. J. of Robust and Nonlinear Control, Asian Journal of Control, and etc. He has also been invited to serve as organizing committee member, conference chair, and reviewer for several international conferences.
