Rita Pawestri Setyaningsih
Rita Pawestri Setyaningsih was born, completing elementary school, high school in Jogjakarta. In 2000 she received her bachelor degree from the department of economics and development studies (IESP), faculty of economics, Gadjah Mada University (UGM). At the same time, she had joined the center for economics and public policy studies (PSEKP) at inter University Center (PAU-UGM) as a research assistant. Two years later, she moved to Jakarta and started to work at the division of Asia and Pacific Studies, the Research Center for Regional Resources, the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (PSDR-LIPI) until now. Her interest topics are the social and economic issues in the area of Asia Pacific. For the first five years, she was included in a research team that concerned to the development of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the area of South East Asian countries, such as Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. For three years later, she was included in research series studying on China. Even though, she has joined research on disaster management in Bengkulu, Japan and will be in China, perspective of economics (2012). Besides, since 2012 she has also been studying on Micro finance of small-scale entrepreneurship (Kredit Usaha Mikro) under the competitive research program. In order to improve her competence in china studies, she started to study Mandarin language through an In House Training (IHT) program held by PSDR LIPI. In 2008 she received a Huayu Scholarship Enrichment Program from the Taiwan Ministry of Education to learn Mandarin language in National Taiwan Normal University (NCCU) for one year. Since getting involved in Taiwan environment, Rita Pawestri became interested to study more on Taiwan. Her interest to study more about Taiwanese studies had encouraged her to pursue a master’s degree. In July 2011 she received her Master’s of Art from the International Master’s Program in Asia Pacific Studies (IMAS) at National Cheng Chi University (NCCU) Taiwan, supported by the Taiwan scholarship from the Taiwan Ministry of Education. Her thesis entitled “Job Satisfaction of Indonesian Workers in Taiwan”, discussed the dynamics of Indonesian workers in service sector in doing their jobs in aging Taiwan. While studying in Taiwan, Rita Pawestri got many opportunities to become a private Mandarin teacher, teaching to Indonesian kids in Taipei. She keeps her talent by teaching Mandarin to her colleagues in PSDR-LIPI under the In House Training Program (IHT program) in 2012 and 2013.
