Firman Budianto received his B.A. degree in Japanese Studies from the Universitas Indonesia in 2014. His thesis, titled "Japanese Disaster Preparedness Habitus and Practice", discusses implications of the disaster drills and exercises on the making of disaster preparedness among Japanese people from the sociological perspective. His research interests are Japanese society and Japanese visual culture, including globalization and transnational issue across East Asia region. He is serving as researcher in Research Center for Regional Resources of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (P2SDR-LIPI), and currently working on research on globalization, creative industries, and visual culture in Japan.
