DESCRIPTION
The new species of bird found in Rote Island is called Myzomela irianawidodoae which is named after ‘Iriana Widodo’ (the wife of Joko Widodo-The President of Republic Indonesia) for her dedication in saving the environment.
Myzomela irianawidodoae is a small bird with a body length of 11.8 cm, excluding its tail of 3.7 cm, and weighs 32.23 grams. The wing chord is 5.8 cm with the wingspan of 17.2 cm and the bill is 1.79 cm. The length of its feet is about 1.67cm long.
