FOCUS
This Research Group focus on research and development of novel functional biomaterials from microorganism such as bacteria, yeast and fungi, and their derivative products such as enzymes and proteins. The new materials can be designed for catalytic materials, building materials, mycocomposite materials and biomaterials for bioremediation purpose. This Research Group also develops new materials by combination of bioprocessing technological and chemical to modify microorganism and biomaterials.

SCOPE
Scope pekerjaan keltian Microbial Biomaterials (Biomaterial berbasis Mikrob) secara garis besar terbagi menjadi tiga bagian, pertama, pada pengembangan microbial biomass yaitu bagaimana menghasilkan biomassa mikroba yang berpotensi sebagai sumber biomaterial melalui kegiatan isolasi dan screening mikroba yang berpotensi. Pada kegiatan ini, mikroba diisolasi dari alam kemudian di uji potensinya terhadap berbagai kebutuhan sebagai sumber biomaterial, misalnya, sebagai agen bioremediasi limbah tekstil, pencemeran minyak mentah, Polyaromatic Hydrocarbon dll. Serta menguji kekuatan micelia jamur untuk mendapatkan sifat kekuatan yang baik untuk material bio (biomaterial), mendapatkan micelia yang baik untuk produksi biochitosan, serta selulosa mikroba (microbial cellulose) dan lain-lain.
