
Kelompok penelitian biomaterial berbasis lignin dan tanin (BBLT) merupakan kelompok penelitian yang memanfaat lignin dan tanin yang terdapat pada biomassa menjadi berbagai macam bioproduk seperti biosurfaktan, perekat, mortar pintar, bahan aditif kemasan, dll yang terlebih dahulu melalui proses secara fisika, kimia, ataupun biologis. Pada tahun 2020, peneltian pada keltian BBLT berfokus pada pengembangan lignin terglioksalasi-urea-pati dialdehida sebagai perekat ramah lingkungan, pengembangan biomaterial pengemulsi berbasis lignin untuk ekstraksi emas, karakterisasi serat alam sebagai database sebagai sistem informasi digital, serta pengembangan serat rami tahan api terimpregnasi poliuretan berbasis lignin dan tanin.
